22 imagesmy work in television took me all over the world and people ask me what's my favorite place..and that's a tough one to answer, but honestly, it would be a 30,000 acre site just below mt whitney in the sierra nevada range called the alabama hills. and this is california, just 200 miles north of los angeles. this is where old hollywood would come to shoot westerns and tv shows like hopalong cassidy and the lone ranger. indeed, its one of those 'secret' places where you have to be there to get a true sense of its solitude, magic and awe-inspiring beauty.

24 imagesNaturally, we all love the beautiful grains and textures of wood in the finished state.... but have you ever been to a lumber supply company that specializes in slabs of the whole tree? I was lucky to stumble across one such vendor in San Diego who allowed me to spend some time in the warehouse at Made Lumber Supply. Thanks, Brian!!

42 imagesI decided to drive instead of fly to Austin, Texas, specifically with photography along the way as my reason. Its quite a journey driving that distance solo, but if you can get yourself off the freeway, there are rewards, indeed!

7 imagesSadly, Batman or Superman won't be appearing in these images of the Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge in San Diego. The award winning structure links Petco Park (home of the Padres) to the Convention Center and San Diego Bay. Designed by T.Y. Lin International, its one of the longest self-anchored suspension bridges in the world. I think I made the right decision to shoot these images on foggy nights.

12 images...and I'm certain that's exactly what the architect, Frank Gehry, had in mind when he designed the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Now the centerpiece for the long awaited redevelopment of the area, the look of its curvy metal shell constantly changes as the sun passes across the sky. Not only a stunning vision of contemporary architecture to passersby , the intimate theaters within provide listeners with pristine, perfect acoustics.

14 imagesMission La Purisima Concepcion de Maria Santisima was the eleventh of the chain of twenty one Franciscan missions that stretched from San Diego to Sonoma, each a day's walk apart. Founded in 1769, La Purisima was integral in religious and cultural development and commerce as the Franciscans brought the new colonialism to California indians. Now a part of the California Park System, La Purisima gives us a glimpse of what it was like long before freeways, high tech and missile launches from nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base..

17 imagesI literally jumped at the chance to join some buddies on a road trip through Navajo Land to visit some very colorful places I had not had the opportunity to see in person: the Petrified Forest, Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley. Let me say this about that: "not to be missed!!"

46 imagesYa know how it is when you've got a bunch of photographs that really don't fall into any one category other than "random"? That's what we have here, folks...but, these do fall into a category, now that i think about it: my favorites!
