Mission La Purisima Concepcion de Maria Santisima was the eleventh of the chain of twenty one Franciscan missions that stretched from San Diego to Sonoma, each a day's walk apart. Founded in 1769, La Purisima was integral in religious and cultural development and commerce as the Franciscans brought the new colonialism to California indians.
